Giaconda, founded by Rick Kinzbrunner, released its first wines in 1987. The winery and vineyards are located in Beechworth in northeastern Victoria. Those produced wines have a super-cult status and, given the tiny production, are extremely difficult to find; they are sold chiefly through restaurants and by mail order. All have a cosmopolitan edge befitting Rick Kinzbrunner´s international winemaking experience. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are made in contrasting styles: the Chardonnay tight and reserved, the Pinot Noir more variable, but usually opulent and ripe.

Nantua Chardonnay is a blend of premium Giaconda Estate grown Chardonnay and fruit sourced from close neighbouring vineyards. This wine is made using similar methods to the Estate Chardonnay, with less time in barrel and less new oak. This results in a more fruit-forward style that is ready to drink immediately and does not require long term cellaring. This wine offers all the Giaconda hallmarks of complexity, palate texture and minerality.

Citrus notes, a touch funky with struck match, grapefruit pith and orange zest coming together in a mouth filling punch of flavour. An assertive full-throttle chardonnay with perfectly judged acidity and phenolic structure that lingers on the palate.
