Antinori is the most famous name in Italian wine and the influence of Piero Antinori in the last 25 years has been nothing short of revolutionary. Antinori´s flagship wine, Tignanello, first appeared in 1971 and caused a sensation by its use of Cabernet Sauvignon in a Sangiovese blend and with its practice of ageing in small French barriques. Antinori was accused of vinous treachery and treason but soon barrique-aged blends of Sangiovese and Cabernet began appearing all across Tuscany.

Tasting Note:
Antonio Galloni 91 points!
The 2012 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori is distinguished in this lineup for its freshness and aromatic intensity, both signatures of the Tignanello estate. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, mint and cinnamon are some of the notes that meld together. Lithe, medium in body and gracious, the 2012 is wonderfully refined from start to finish. Today, my sense is that the 2012 still has room for improvement. Drink 2016-2027.

Tasting Note:
James Suckling 92 points!
Very aromatic with dark fruits, dried meats and flowers that follow through to a full body, round tannins and a fresh finish. Tangy and delectable. This is always a delicious Chianti Classico Riserva. Drink now.
